Break myths. Overcome barriers. Inspire new generations. Break down prejudices. Disprove preconceived ideas. Close mouths. End stereotypes. Exceed expectations. These are some of the milestones achieved by Amelie Lens, an artist who has left the Neanderthals without arguments who claimed that techno music was the exclusive territory of the male gender. Amelie’s brilliance transcends genres, she transcends sexes, she is born of her passion and contagious energy and a natural talent for electronic music.
We at Pyramid don’t give a shit about the gender of artists, we don’t give a shit about their race, we don’t give a shit about their nationality, we don’t give a shit about their creed, we don’t give a shit if they’re an adonis or an eccehomo. The only thing that matters to us is its ability to generate quality music and to make every pore of our skin ooze happiness. Amelie Lens gets it.., and she does it in spades.
Amelie’s love for music was born in her hometown of Antwerp – Belgium, listening to artists like Boys Noize, Nine Inch Nails and Underworld. But her crush on techno came when she was 16, when she attended the Festival Dour in 2006 with some friends. That experience changed her life. The impact of that sound was so strong that she returned home, began to read everything she could about the history of electronic music and discovered new artists and sounds. A new world opened before her eyes.
After a brief stint in the fashion industry, Amelie decided in 2014 to dedicate herself exclusively to her passion and began mixing under the name Renée. She performed in bars, events and festivals and made a name for herself touring all over Europe. Thanks to this, in a very short time she obtained a residence at the Labyrinth Club in Hasselt. But this was not enough, so she changed her trademark and under her real name Amelie Lens in 2016 she bet everything on a letter in the form of her first single on the Italian label Lyase Recordings: “Exhale”. . The song was an international success and positioned him as one of the new promises on the scene.
Since then, Amelie Lens has undergone an ascension without equal, translating into success everything she has created. Her particular mix of acid sounds from the nineties with more modern sounds and vocals made by herself, have created a sound identity that has given her her own style. In 2018 came another great moment in Amelie’s career with the creation of her own label: Lenske. Her vision with this label is to offer a showcase for the most underground techno, either with her own creations or with emerging talents like the Belgian Milo Spykers. Although no one doubts her skills as a producer anymore, where Amelie manages to make the masses fall in love is from the booth. The unparalleled energy that she brings to all of her sets can only come from someone who has experienced the rave scene firsthand. She manages to get you inside, she doesn’t let a second of respite and like the sirens that hypnotized the sailors of the Odyssey, Amelie manages to make you join her sound journey. From Pyramid we are proud to have her at our events, but Pyramid makes us especially excited to have managed to solve one of the biggest inconsistencies in the history of the scene in Ibiza. How the hell is it possible that Amelie Lens did not act in Amnesia? Well then, problem solved. The Belgian DJ will be able to make her debut at the mythical Ibizan club and will show why she has become a benchmark in techno. Amelie + Amnesia… we get goosebumps just thinking about it.
Why is the French techno scene hot? Why, after many years of traveling through the desert, do their new talents begin to emerge? Perhaps we should ask one of its top representatives today. Perhaps we should explore the keys to this new burst of creativity with Dario Brkic aka AIROD.
Although our roots and those of Pyramid lie in the early days of the clubbing movement, we are always on the lookout for new trends and new names emerging in the electronics industry. One of those names is without a doubt AIROD. Raised on the streets of Paris, AIROD is for many one of the best incarnations of what the French techno scene represents today. His presentation could not have been more spectacular, in 2018 he made his solo debut on the Molekül label, a job that did not go unnoticed by artists of the DashaRush, Blawan, Randomer or Kobosil category. His interpretation of his text was a breath of fresh air in the techno scene, filling his tracks with darkness, power and that corrosive atmosphere that seeps through your bones on the dance floor.
Living in Paris and with his name reverberating among the city’s techno lovers, what happened next was inevitable. Amelie Lens incorporated AIROD into her Exhale parties at REX Club and began a musical relationship that continues to this day and has taken them all over the world. But the thing didn’t end there, in addition to sharing a booth, AIROD presented another electronic jewel on Amelie’s label, Lenske. ‘Voltage’ is one of those productions built to blow up the dance floor, each of its tracks forceful, challenging and as a whole they provoke a cathartic reaction in the audience.
AIROD has undergone a meteoric rise in his career, his performance schedule has gone from simply busy to packed in a heartbeat. That is why it is an honor to be able to count on this Parisian producer in our events, since he has earned his own merits to be part of the Pyramid family.
