The term mix is intrinsically tied to the concept of electronic music. Mixing sounds to compose a unique piece is the leitmotiv of any self-respecting DJ. Some artists go a step further and mix cultures. This is the case of Luciano, the person responsible for the fusion of the sound of two continents. A feat within the reach of a few.
Many of you will know that Pyramid has a very special link with Ibiza. An island that became a mecca for electronic music and responsible for the worldwide success of many artists. That was the case of Luciano, who we saw conquer the Ibizan scene over the years since his beginnings at the dawn of Cocoon. A reciprocal love that was forged based on magic sessions in different clubs and a positive attitude that infected thousands of people.
Luciano was born in Switzerland and raised in Chile. In the mid-90s and still a young DJ, he took over the scene thanks to his performances at the Sense Club and the Encuentros Con La Technocultura in Santiago de Chile in the company of many electronic pioneers in Latin America such as Senor Coconut AKA Atom Heart, Ricardo Villalobos or Dandy Jack & sprouted. After his success at the Love Parade in Santiago, he returned to Europe at the age of 21 and soon found himself among the best DJs of the moment. The keys? His eclectic mix, his innovation and the fusion of electronic music and Latin rhythms. An infallible recipe that exploded with talent in the main capitals of the entire planet.
In addition to releasing a series of must-have EPs and special projects on labels like Perlon, Peacefrog, Poker Flat, M_nus and Cocoon, Luciano founded Cadenza Records. More than a label Cadenza has been a concept in which Luciano has displayed all his knowledge, in which he has delved into the musical paths that most provoked him and in which he has brought together a large group of artists and producers who They have ended up becoming benchmarks in the clubbing industry. At the same time, Lucio created a new label called Basaec, a commitment to the experimental and nostalgic, showing Luciano’s first productions, such as Luciæn, which he made in his teens.
Luciano is a grateful person with a social conscience. Together with his wife Francisca and his sister Amélie, he founded the charity One Coin For Life. Thanks to donations from the electronic music industry, their goal is to raise awareness and funds to help underprivileged communities around the world. His first project included the construction of schools for the children of the Arhuaco and Kogi tribes in Colombia, and they have continued with different actions such as the financing of Vipingo Village in Kenya. At Pyramid we are proud to bet on the avant-garde and new sounds. But that does not mean that we do not leave the standard bearers of this culture aside, what is more, having them in our events reinforces our philosophy. And Luciano has earned a place on his own merits not only in our programming, but also in our hearts.
